What Do the Icons Mean?

The Carbon Platform highlights five types of information regarding product and manufacturer Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions: 1. The estimated industry-average GHG emissions for the product; 2. The dominant approach the manufacturer is taking to reduce GHG emissions from cradle to customer; 3. The major type of carbon offset the manufacturer uses to address residual emissions; 4. An estimate for how long it will take for the offset technology to reduce atmospheric GHG levels; 5. The name of the entity providing independent validation of the manufacturer’s GHG reduction efforts.
